Getting The School Year Started... What Families Need to Know!

Welcome!
Welcome Families to Victor Haen for the 2022-23 School Year!
We are so excited to get started!

We believe in a kind, safe and loving school community
that strives to bring the very best out in each of us as
students, staff and families!

Open House (& More!) Details
The school to home connection is strong at Victor Haen.
To begin our school year, please be sure to connect with us by signing up for a time to attend Open House.  Use this LINK to get to the sign up, then click on the tab with the name of your student's teacher.  Having an assigned time to meet the teacher helps us focus on a small group of students as we meet for the first time to get the school year started.

During the Open House time, we will have school spirit signs just outside Door 1 for families to take some photos!  Families can also feel free to walk through the school.  Check out our Motor Lab, Room 159, where Mr. Granatelli, our Physical Education Teacher, has stations set up for families to take a "break" together with an activity that connects the mind and body.  We use this space during the school year as a help to students who may need that mind/ body break.  (Adults, it is very helpful for us too!)

Registration & Free/ Reduced Lunch
Computers will be available for families who may need to complete their Online Registration (OLR).  A note will be on student desks if a family needs to complete this.  We will have computers available in the Main Office and outside the Health Office.

As always, we will offer breakfast in the classroom as well as one entree choice for lunch.  In the past two years, all meals were considered free for students.  This school year, the state has returned to its practice of having paid, free and reduced price meals.  We encourage ALL families to complete a Free/ Reduced Lunch Application.  Families can apply for Meal Benefits through the link in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal, as well as make payments towards their student's meal account.  A printed copy of the Free/ Reduced Lunch Application will also be available in the office and on the table outside the Health Office during Open House.

Student Transportation
Our highest concern during student drop off and pick up times is student safety.  Families can help keep students safe during drop off and pick up by following the procedures below:

*Bus Students-
Kobussen Bus students are dropped off and picked up behind school on High Street, entering and exiting school through Door 16.

Students who ride a Kobussen Bus will know their route times by having an adult log onto the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.  Bus route times are found under More, Transportation.

*Parent Drop Off and Pick Up-
Students are dropped off and picked up in front of school on Haen Drive.  Families can park along Haen Drive.  We have crossing guards in the front of school to help students safely across the street.

*Families please DO NOT drop off students in the front drive closest to the building. This area is reserved for cars who are parking to come into school, buses and cars with permission to drop off students in this drive.

*Walkers-
Students who are walking to school from the front of school will enter in Door 7 and those coming from behind school will enter in Door 16.  School crossing guards are at both the front and back of school to help students cross the street safely.

*School Entry
All students are welcome to enter school at 7:35 through 7:45 AM.  Families please give your hugs and good-byes before sending your child into school.  We will take it from there, welcoming the students into the building and making sure they get where they need to go.  Should your child be late to school, after 7:45 please bring them into the office to be sure they have entered the building safely.

One Hero at a Time

Haen Hawks are Changing the World One Hero at a Time!
Thank you to our Parent Advisory Council (PAC) for sponsoring each student with a Victor Haen t-shirt!  We have many Spirit Days where students can all have an opportunity to show their Haen Hawk Pride!  An Eagle Graphics Online School Store will be available in the coming weeks for families to purchase Victor Haen apparel.

Partner's In Learning, More to Come!

As part of our Title 1 Family Engagement, we host a Partner's in Learning Event in the fall, winter and spring.  During this event, families learn more about how to support your student in literacy, math and social emotional learning.  Keep an eye out for the Fall Partner's in Learning Event date coming soon!
